James Bond: From The Hub with Love Gala
March 23, 2024
Suave. Sophisticated. Cool under pressure. A man’s man.
There is no more iconic character than James Bond. We know there are other 00s, yet we wholly accept that 007 is the only such-categorized secret agent that we care about. Moneypenny, of course, only loves Bond.
James Bond proves there’s hope for all men.
Bond endures and prevails because of his guile and charm, not some improbable superpower. There’s no greater evidence of the timelessness of a movie character than the fact that Bond lives on despite having been portrayed by six different actors over six decades.
Charm didn’t just help achieve the mission. It helped Bond get the girl – and a collection of beautiful women they were. Many young actresses launched their careers after appearing beside James Bond.
And let’s not forget the villains. Without colorful and evil bad guys invariably bent on global domination, Bond would just be a British civil servant who drank too much and loved expensive watches. Who can forget Blofeld, Goldfinger or Le Chiffre?
